Poverty is more than a lack of income. It means limited access to food, education, healthcare, safe housing and opportunity, and it leaves families far more exposed to conflict, disasters and economic shocks. SDG 1 calls on the world to end extreme poverty, to cut poverty by at least half according to national definitions, and to build social protection systems that leave no one behind.
• Eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere.
• Reduce by at least half the proportion of people living in poverty in all its dimensions.
• Implement nationally appropriate social protection systems for all.
• Build the resilience of poor and vulnerable people to economic, social and climate-related shocks.
The Center supports research on livelihoods, social protection and vulnerable communities, including rural, displaced and low-income households in our region, and shares evidence that helps decision-makers design fairer policies.
