This section shows that the Center is not only about words but about real action. It presents the programs and projects that make the University of Zakho a living example of sustainability.
We work with University management to reduce the University's environmental footprint and improve everyday life on campus. Priority areas: saving energy and water, expanding green spaces, reducing and recycling waste, promoting sustainable transport, and making the campus inclusive and accessible to everyone.
A network of motivated students who promote the Goals in classrooms, student clubs and social media. Ambassadors receive training, certificates and leadership opportunities, and organize awareness activities across the University.
An annual competition inviting students to present creative, practical solutions for sustainability challenges. Winning teams receive recognition, mentoring and, where possible, support to turn their ideas into prototypes or start-ups.
Projects in schools, villages and public institutions: awareness sessions, clean-up days, tree planting, health and hygiene campaigns, and support for local initiatives. These activities link the classroom with real community needs.
Support for lecturers to include the Goals in their courses and assignments, with a mapping of university courses to SDGs, so students see how their field contributes to a sustainable world.
